I say “frequent” fliers, because you really only want to consider this if you fly more than a few times a year. But if you are a frequent flier, the long-awaited iris scans may be a welcome relief from those long security lines. Ask yourself this: Would you pay $128 to get through airport security in four minutes or less? If the answer is yes, keep reading. Now offered at over a dozen major airports nationwide (including Washington’s Reagan National and Dulles), the Clear fast pass allows you to go through a special lane, press your pass against a reader, and get your finger and the iris in your eye scanned. Yeah, you’ll still have to take off your shoes, put your carry-ons, computer, watch, etc., through the scanner. That whole rigamarole won’t change. But instead of waiting 20 minutes or longer in a line of 50-100 people, you’ll be in a line of like, one or two. Interested?
Passes are valid for one year. Free passes are given to active-duty military members, and federal workers get an extra month free.
